Help Collect + Identify Macroinvertebrates on the St. Vrain Creek!

Wed. 9/23 | 4:00pm-6:00pm | Longmont Museum & Community Center | 400 Quail Rd, Longmont CO 80501

Show Mama Earth some love! Join Can’d Aid,  Trout Unlimited and the City of Longmont in an effort to collect data and monitor the health of the St. Vrain Creek. We will meet at the Longmont Museum, and disperse from there. Can’d Aid and Trout Unlimited will provide all necessary supplies– just come ready to dive in and do some good!
Volunteers will participate as citizen scientists to collect stream health data for the St. Vrain and its tributaries. Volunteers will work in small teams to collect, identify, and catalog aquatic macroinvertebrates. If you like nature and attention to detail, this is a fun look at life below the water in our streams.
There will be a mandatory virtual training session on  September 16 from 4-5 PM to introduce volunteers to the field procedure and principles of basic identification.
Due to the current circumstances, we ask that all volunteers practice six feet of social distancing. Face masks will be provided for each volunteer if needed. Please plan to bring your own gloves if you can. If not, Can’d Aid will provide you with a pair!

Sign up below to help keep our waterways healthy and to get in on the do-goodery!
