Corpus Christi Tackles Community Recycling.
Corpus Christi, Texas, is a powerful reminder that when communities come together around recycling, the results can be extraordinary. According to a recent local Ch3 KIII TV report and national Yahoo news feed, the city’s new recycling outreach efforts successfully diverted over one ton of waste from landfill at major community events —a milestone made possible through a Can’d Aid Crush It Crusade Grant, which allowed the city to offer recycling collection for the first time at Earth Day-Bay Day, the Buc Days Night Parade and the Beach to Bay Relay Marathon.
The City of Corpus Christi’s efforts show recycling is more than just about reducing waste. It’s a commitment to community education, student volunteers, recycling access, and attendee engagement to create healthier communities – and ensuring valuable material like aluminum can be reused again and again without losing quality, instead of ending up in landfills.
