Partnering with TinkerTar to Bring Music Education to More Young Learners

At Can’d Aid, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of making music. That’s why we’re excited to announce our partnership with TinkerTar—an innovative one-string instrument that introduces young students to music through creativity, confidence, and play.
Designed specifically for small hands, TinkerTar gives children a fun, accessible way to build rhythm, coordination, listening skills, and musical expression. Whether they’re discovering a steady beat or performing their first “rock concert” for classmates, TinkerTar, as featured on Good Morning America, creates an engaging first step into the world of music.

A Simple Idea With Big Impact

Born from a love of music and creativity, TinkerTar was created by Brian Calhoun, co-founder of Rockbridge Guitar Company, an artisan business crafting high-end acoustic guitars. Brian envisioned a simple, colorful, one-string guitar to give young learners a fun, approachable way to create melodies without the complexity of a traditional instrument.

“My goal with TinkerTar is to get a whole lot more kids into music. We’re thrilled to partner with Can’d Aid with this new instrument that fills a gap for young learners to have early success and hopefully continue their music education for years to come.”

Supporting Music Teachers Every Step of the Way

Through Can’d Aid’s Music Teacher Grants, TinkerTar is now available to creative arts and music teachers, giving early childhood educators another creative tool to introduce music in their classrooms where every new instrument can make a lasting difference.

This innovative instrument is only part of the equation. Every TinkerTar Music Teacher Grant is paired with an engaging curriculum developed by Angela Kelly, founder of Creative Music Room. These thoughtfully designed lessons give music educators and classroom teachers everything they need to confidently introduce TinkerTar into age-appropriate instruction. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning while helping students develop foundational musical concepts in a way that’s playful, engaging, and accessible.

Together, we can spark a lifelong love of music — one string, one song, one student, and one classroom at a time.
